Q: Where is Christ now ?

A: Christ rose bodily from the grave on the third day after His death and is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling His kingdom and interceding for us, until He returns to judge and renew the whole world.

Scripture: Ephesians 1: 20-21

God raised him from the dead and seated him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

The Vertical Truth in Faith – What does this truth mean in my relationship with God?

That our Lord and Savior is seated in heaven next to Father God, at His right hand, which signified a place of significance and authority. Jesus is seated on a throne of grace. God himself raised him from the dead and seated him there. He is seated there as our advocate or interceder. Jesus, through his life, death and resurrection has  become our High Priest before God the Father. By Jesus interceding for us on the cross and seated next to the Father now, we are cleansed and appear righteous before God the Father, if we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and Savior. At his throne, at the right hand of God, is where we find mercy and grace.

Hebrews 4:14-16 – A High Priest

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The Horizontal Truth in Love – What does this truth mean in my relationship with humanity?

That Jesus rules from the right hand of God and will come back one day to judge the sheep (His flock of creation) and renew all things, as only one who overcame death can do. That our God is totally Sovereign, and we are used by Him to further the purposes of the Kingdom of God. The Ephesians 1 passage says that Jesus is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. That His name, the name of Jesus, is above every other name, forever and ever. For Eternity.

So, as we live life here on earth, God simply wants us to love Him and love our neighbor as ourself. That His name is great, not mine. That we must realize how tiny we are compared to God when pride rears its head and that we must not ever think of ourselves as better than anyone.

Psalm 2:1-6 – God is Sovereign

Why are the nations in an uproar, And the peoples devising a vain thing?
The kings of the earth take their stand, And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!”

He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.
Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,
“But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.

Practical Truth in Action – How can I put this truth into action?

By realizing that I can be a part of a Kingdom not of this world. The world’s kingdom is temporal, fleeting and vain. God’s kingdom is eternal, lasting and valuable.

I must see my place among the universe He spoke into being and realize how small I am. That should breed humbleness, never pride. That humbleness leads to a walk with a Savior, Jesus, that shed his blood to save me from my sin and proved His love for humanity which he created. To realize that Jesus sits next to the Father in heaven speaking my name and advocating for me.

I’ve got to tell other people this good news, and how they, too, can be an heir to the Kingdom of God. They, too, can partake in the life giving water that Jesus provides in this life and, more importantly, for eternity to come. They, too, can have a place at the throne of grace.

Revelation 3:21-22 – Granted a Seat

He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
