Title: The Anointing of the King
Text: John 11:55-12:8
1. Why do you think Mary anointed Jesus with her hair and with such expensive perfume?
2. Using “eastern eyes” to understand this text, what does it mean to say you can “smell the King coming.” (Psalm 45:7-8, Song of Solomon 3:6-7, 1 Kings 1:38-40).
3. The next day, Jesus would ride into Jerusalem on an unridden colt (Zechariah 9:9) and the people would shout “Hosanna.” Do you think they could “smell the king coming?”
4. What does it mean when Pual says we are “the aroma of Christ?” (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)
