Dear Church,
Good morning. This Sunday we will continue our series, “Issues We Face” as we discuss the issue of sexual abuse. Unfortunately this issue is scarring to many and likely impacts all of us, either directly or indirectly.
Did you know 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced some form of sexual violence in their lifetime?
I will be preaching from 2 Samuel 13:1-20. If you have small children especially, you might want to read that passage ahead of time. I will be mindful of our multi-generational congregation but also straightforward in my speech. I intended to offer the hope of the gospel and practical help for those who have experienced abuse, those who are married to, parenting, or caring for someone who has experienced abuse, and for the abuser. Please be praying for our time together this weekend. I am asking God for healing, justice, and freedom for many.
